Santa Fe Trail: Errol Flynn, Olivia de Havilland Raymond Massey, Ronald Reagan (1940 Movie)
DVD: amazon.com thefilmarchive.org Santa Fe Trail is a 1940 western film directed by Michael Curtiz and starring Errol Flynn and Olivia de Havilland. The film was one of the top-grossing films of the year, being the seventh Flynn-de Havilland collaboration. The film also has nothing to do with its namesake, the famed Santa Fe Trail except that the trail started in Missouri. Instead, it follows the life of JEB Stuart, a cavalry commander (and future Confederate Army general). The outdoor scenes were filmed at the Lasky Movie Ranch, on the Lasky Mesa area of the Simi Hills in the western San Fernando Valley. One can visit the film location site, now in the very large Upper Las Virgenes Canyon Open Space Preserve (aka Ahmanson Ranch), with various trails to the Lasky Mesa locale. The film purports to follow the life of JEB Stuart (Errol Flynn) before the outbreak of the American Civil War. Among its sub-plots are a romance with the fictional Kit Carson Holliday (Olivia de Havilland), friendship with George Armstrong Custer (Ronald Reagan), and battles against abolitionist John Brown (Raymond Massey). The movie significantly differs from the actual details of Stuart's life. For instance, Stuart is depicted as having been classmates at West Point Academy with Custer and others, who on graduation were appointed to Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. In reality, Custer was admitted to West Point in 1858, four years after Stuart graduated in 1854. Custer graduated in 1861 after the ...
The Beverly Hillbillies: Jethro's First Love - Season 2, Episode 6 - Sharon Tate (1963)
thefilmarchive.org DVD: amazon.com October 30, 1963 Jethro develops feelings for an exotic dancer named Chickadee, and brings her home to meet the folks. Sharon Marie Tate (January 24, 1943 -- August 9, 1969) was an American actress. During the 1960s she played small television roles before appearing in several films. After receiving positive reviews for her comedic performances, she was hailed as one of Hollywood's promising newcomers and was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for her performance in Valley of the Dolls (1967). She also appeared regularly in fashion magazines as a model and cover girl. Married to film director Roman Polanski in 1968, Tate was eight and a half months pregnant when she and her unborn child were murdered in her home, along with four others, by followers of Charles Manson. A decade after the murders, Tate's mother, Doris, in response to the growing cult status of the killers and the possibility that any of them might be granted parole, organized a public campaign against what she considered shortcomings in the state's corrections system. It resulted in amendments to the California criminal law in 1982, which allowed crime victims and their families to make victim impact statements during sentencing and at parole hearings. Doris Tate was the first person to make such an impact statement under the new law, when she spoke at the parole hearing of one of her daughter's killers, Charles "Tex" Watson. She believed changes in the law had ...

This is my first ever arrangement and I did this because I thought someone would at least try to attempt this. Haha, I had to listen to like 4 different versions of Hallelujah to arrange it exactly the way I wanted it. But since it's just a demo, I didn't put any dynamics. I don't exactly plan to either cuz I'm lazy :P. Update: Hahaha, I knew the day that people would ask for it would come. This is the score and I'm in the process of making the seperate parts. JS Bach - Brandenburg Concerto No.5 BWV 1050 in D major, I. Allegro

TOMASO GIOVANNI ALBINONI (1671-1751) Sonata a cinque for two violins, two violas, and basso continuo in C major Op. 2 No. 2 1. Largo 2. Allegro 3. Grave 4. Allegro Performed by Ensemble 415 Directed by Chiara Banchini *Tomaso Giovanni Albinoni was a Venetian Baroque composer. While famous in his day as an opera composer, he is mainly remembered today for his instrumental music, some of which is regularly recorded. Born to Antonio Albinoni, a wealthy paper merchant in Venice, he studied violin and singing. Relatively little is known about his life, especially considering his contemporary stature as a composer, and the comparatively well-documented period in which he lived. In 1694 he dedicated his Opus 1 to the fellow-Venetian Pietro, Cardinal Ottoboni (grand-nephew of Pope Alexander VIII); Ottoboni was an important patron in Rome of other composers, such as Arcangelo Corelli. Albinoni was possibly employed in 1700 as a violinist to Charles IV, Duke of Mantua, to whom he dedicated his Opus 2 collection of instrumental pieces. In 1701 he wrote his hugely popular suites Opus 3, and dedicated that collection to Cosimo III de' Medici, Grand Duke of Tuscany. In 1705, he was married; Antonino Biffi, the maestro di cappella of San Marco was a witness, and evidently was a friend of Albinoni's. Albinoni seems to have no other connection with that primary musical establishment in Venice, however, and achieved his early fame as an opera composer at many cities in Italy, including ...

Beethoven / Artur Balsam, 1952: Piano (Violin) Concerto in D major, Op. 61a - Complete

Rather than upload the second movement separately (the third movement has been on YouTube for some time), I have consolidated all three movements into this single video presentation. ----------------------------------------------------- Perhaps due to his Violin Concerto's lack of success at its premiere, Beethoven revised it in a version for solo piano and orchestra, which was later published as Opus 61a. Schumann: String Quartet in A minor, Op.41 No.1 mvt I
See more on plushmusic.tv In 1842 Robert Schumann wrote to Clara complaining about the increasing limitations of the piano as a vessel for his ideas, and the need to attack different instruments and genres. What followed was a spectacular year of inspiration that yielded all of his most famous chamber works including the set of three string quartets, of which the A minor is the first. He had studied the great quartets of Mozart, Beethoven and Haydn in depth, simultaneously building up a well of ideas that exploded onto the page in record time. The A minor took just a week to be sketched and formed, and three months and much rehearsal later, recieved its premiere as a gift to Clara on her 23rd birthday. The Merel Quartet performed this to a sold out crowd on a warm summer evening at the Music at Plush festival.

Spread the word of true greatness. Forward to a friend. Day of Sorrow Sir Winston Churchill 1874 - 1965 I Vow To Thee My Country - Gustav Holst Sir Winston Leonard Spencer-Churchill, KG, OM, CH, TD, PC, DL, FRS (30 November 1874 -- 24 January 1965) was a British politician and statesman known for his leadership of the United Kingdom during the Second World War. He is widely regarded as one of the great wartime leaders. He served as Prime Minister twice (1940--45 and 1951--55). A noted statesman and orator, Churchill was also an officer in the British Army, a historian, a writer, and an artist. To date, he is the only British prime minister to have received the Nobel Prize in Literature, and he was the first person to be made an honorary citizen of the United States.[1] Churchill was born into the aristocratic family of the Dukes of Marlborough. His father, Lord Randolph Churchill, was a charismatic politician who served as Chancellor of the Exchequer; his mother, Jenny Jerome, an American socialite. As a young army officer, he saw action in British India, the Sudan and the Second Boer War. He gained fame as a war correspondent and through books he wrote about his campaigns. At the forefront of politics for fifty years, he held many political and cabinet positions. Before World War I, he served as President of the Board of Trade, Home Secretary and First Lord of the Admiralty as part of the Asquith Liberal government. Franz LISZT Consolation No 2, S 172 - Michel Mananes Live Recording
Michel Mañanes study piano in France, Spain and Austria. With recitals for Europa and Southamerica specially. He won first prize in several young piano competitions. He is Piano Teacher in Madrid and continue to give concerts.Rachmaninov moment musical. classical concert pianist. michelmananes.com Michel Mañanes has obtained, recently, the University Title of "Expert in Pianistic Interpretation", gotten with "Cum Laudae" by Unanimous vote (International University of Andalusia) The Liszt Consolations are fragments of pure Lisztian life and color. Liszt wrote the consolations around 1849-1850. Nobody's quite sure where the title Consolations comes from - the most likely explanation is that Liszt was inspired by some volume of poetry or other. Liszt had actually had brainwaves for the Consolations a lot earlier than the year of publication (1850). One of them even dates all the way back to 1844! There are 6 Consolations. Since they're so small they sound best when played end-to-end (the tempo indications also suggest this is the proper way to play them), although a lot of pianists choose to only perform one or two. Out of all of them, number 6 is the most appropriate for performance as a standalone piece. The key signatures hardly change from piece to piece, and in fact remind me of a kind of ABA structural arc (first section E Major, second section D-Flat Major, third section E Major). Consolation No.2: Un poco piu mosso (E Major) A gentle, floating melody is framed by ...
Liszt Consolation no. 3 performed on Liszt's 1862 Bechstein Piano
Sandro Russo plays Liszt's Consolation No. 3 on the 1862Bechstein Liszt Piano. FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER, Bechstein piano serial #576, originally delivered to Franz Liszt on March 17, 1862, has arrived in New York. The piano was on display at the Bechstein America corporate headquarters on 58th Street in Manhattan. Ongoing celebrations of this remarkable piece of music history have so far included performances by renowned artists to a sold-out gala tribute to Liszt at Bechstein Centre. In a personal letter penned to Carl Bechstein, Liszt said... "For 28 years I have now used your pianos, and they have maintained their superiority. In a word, your instruments are perfect." Presentation of this famous instrument gave music historians, Liszt lovers, and pianists of all levels and backgrounds a rare opportunity to see an exquisite representation of German handcraftmanship and offered insights into the manufacturing techniques and technology of 19th century piano building. "Chopin" from Schumann,s "Carnaval" played by Danniela Chuprik
Robert Schumann. German composer and music critic. He made the first comments on the topic of Chopin's music in an enthusiastic review of Variations in B flat major, op. 2, published in Allgemeine Musikalische Zeitung on 7 December 1831. This review contained the famous sentence: 'Gentlemen hats off, [here is] a genius'. The very subtle and poetic interpretation of the piece was not recognised by Chopin, however the two composers did maintain friendly relations, especially during the 1830s. Schumann composed a musical portrait of Chopin in his Carnival and also dedicated Kreisleriana to him, the Polish composer in turn dedicated his Ballade in F major to Schumman. Schumann published numerous and invariably enthusiastic discussions of Chopin's works in his Neue Zeitschrift für Musik (among others: May 1836: Piano Concertos; December 1837: Etudes, op. 25; December 1838: Impromptu op. 29, Mazurkas op. 30, Scherzo op. 31; 1841: Sonata in B flat minor). These reviews sometimes kept in the form of a dialogue are written in a poetic language typical of the time and above all underline the novelty as well as individuality of Chopin's style. He often calls Chopin's pieces 'tremendous' or 'awe-inspiring' and occasionally compares them to works of other composers he valued highly such as Beethoven or Schubert. Critical aspects appear only as a matter of exception in Schumann's reviews (finale of Sonata in B flat minor). Valuable comments regarding Chopins creativity and works are ...

I do not own anything. Great Lyrics ! Yeah I know sometimes things may not always make sense to you right now But hey, what daddy always tell you? Straighten up little soldier Stiffen up that upper lip What you crying about? You got me.. Hailie, I know you miss your mom And I know you miss your dad when I'm gone But I'm trying to give you the life that I never had I can see you're sad Even when you smile Even when you laugh I can see it in your eyes Deep inside, you wanna cry Cuz you're scared I ain't there? Daddy's with you in your prayers No more crying Wipe them tears Daddy's here No more nightmares We gonna pull together through it We gon' do it Laney, uncle's crazy ain't he? Yeah but he loves you girl and you better know it We're all we got in this world When it spins When it swirls When it whirls When it twirls Two little beautiful girls Looking puzzled, in a daze I know it's confusing you Daddy's always on the move Mama's always on the news I try to keep you sheltered from it But somehow it seems, the harder that I try to do that the more it backfires on me All the things, growing up As daddy that he had to see Daddy don't want you to see But you see just as much as he did That we did not plan it to be this way You're mother and me But things have got so bad between us I don't see us ever being Together ever again Like we used to be when was teenagers But then of course Everything always happens for a reason I guess it was never meant to be But it's just something ...

From Andre Rieu's "Live From Radio City Music Hall" in New York City 2004, with the Johann Strauss Orchestra and the Harlem Gospel Choir. Though heavily romanticized, it is one of the best renditions of this magnificent piece, in this one's opinion. LYRICS: Hallelujah hallelujah...

Sonatina in F, Op. 168 No. 1 by A. Diabelli (movement 1)
Decided to try this classical piece. This is the 1st movement, marked Moderato cantabile composed by Austrian composer, Anton Diabelli. "He is most familiar today as the composer of the waltz on which Ludwig van Beethoven wrote his set of thirty-three Diabelli Variations". Quoted from Wikipedia. A very calming piece. Sorry this sonatina is cut up in pieces, but you can view the 2nd and 3rd movements that follow this video. Enjoy!
