Overture (or Sinfonia) No.2 in C Major, Op.1 - Carl Friedrich Abel

Beethoven / Artur Balsam, 1952: Piano (Violin) Concerto in D major, Op. 61a - Complete

Note: Shortly after I uploaded the first movement of this work in late December 2010, YouTube granted me the privilege of considerably longer video transfers. Rather than upload the second movement separately (the third movement has been on YouTube for some time), I have consolidated all three movements into this single video presentation. ----------------------------------------------------- Perhaps due to his Violin Concerto's lack of success at its premiere, Beethoven revised it in a version for solo piano and orchestra, which was later published as Opus 61a. Artur Balsam (1906-1994) performs the piano version in this recording from the early 1950s with Clemens Dahinden conducting the Winterthur Symphony Orchestra. This LP wasissued on the Concert Hall Society label, serial number CHF-10. Movement 1: Allegro ma non troppo Movement 2: Larghetto (23:13) Movement 3: Rondo (32:45) The Library of Congress catalog entry for this LP is available for review here: lccn.loc.gov ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- More from Artur Balsam: Haydn / Artur Balsam: Sonata No. 14 in C, Hob. XVI/3 - Allegretto - 1967: youtube.com Haydn / Artur Balsam: Sonata No. 13 in G, Hob.
